The Oldman River Basin Water Quality Initiative has conducted extensive water quality monitoring as well as land use assessment throughout the Basin, resulting in more than 40 water quality and land use maps. All of these maps are provided on the Oldman River Basin Water Quality and Land Use Interactive Map and Data CD.

The maps, their accompanying site-specific water quality and pesticide index data tables, as well as associated land use area statistics, will be of interest to anyone seeking to understand and/or plan for improved water quality.

Choose from 38 large-scale land use maps that illustrate industrial and agricultural activity in specific zones within the Basin. Or, view the water quality sampling sites map or go to two interactive water quality index maps and click on any of 50 sampling sites to retrieve water quality sampling data as well as water quality and pesticide indices values. For land use assessment information, view the interactive sub-basins image and retrieve population and land cover statistics for specific sub-basins, and then link to associated sub-basin water quality data. Five Oldman River Basin comprehensive land use maps illustrate overlays of data relating to water contamination point sources, vegetation cover, digital elevation, groundwater vulnerability and surface water vulnerability. All maps are printable.

To view the maps, Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 4.0 and WHIP! Viewer are included on the CD.

To place an order for the CD, telephone the Oldman River Basin Water Quality Initiative Project Co-ordinator at: (403) 382-4239 or e-mail us at orbwqi@gov.ab.ca
