Partnering for our Future! Annual Awards

PURPOSE:

The Partnering for our Future! Award is presented annually by the Oldman River Basin Water Quality Initiative. The Award recognizes a Basin resident or organization making an outstanding effort to help preserve or improve water quality in the Oldman River Basin. A Nomination Committee made up of Initiative members selects Award recipients from public nominations.

CATEGORIES:

The Award is presented in two categories. The Rural category recognizes one rurally-based resident or organization implementing beneficial management practices designed to minimize the impact of rural activities on water quality in the Basin. The Urban category recognizes one resident or organization located in a hamlet, village, town or city using practices that reduce the impact of urban activities on water quality in the Basin. An Award in one or both categories may be made each year.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

When selecting Award recipients, the Nomination Committee will consider the following criteria:
  • Relationship of achievements to the conservation or understanding of water quality in the Oldman River Basin.
  • Demonstration of exceptional commitment or innovation, above and beyond normal livelihood expectations.
  • Demonstration of enduring commitment to water quality in the Basin.
  • Significance of the accomplishment in terms of its results.
  • Extent to which granting of an Award to the nominee helps water quality conservation efforts.
NOMINATIONS:

Nominations for the Award are accepted from the public in January each year. Nominations must include the Award category (Rural or Urban), the nominee's name, mailing address and telephone number, and must be accompanied by a written explanation (maximum 500 words) in support of the nomination. Nominators must also include their name, mailing address and telephone number. Submit your nominations to:
