2005 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
If you were with us at the Lethbridge Lodge for our first Annual General Meeting on March 3, 2005, you’ll know that it was an incredible day!
We started off hearing a little bit about the past. An update was given on what the Interim Board of Directors had accomplished in the last six months and a summary of the past few years’ work from the Oldman River Basin Water Quality Initiative and the Oldman Basin Advisory Committee was presented. Then it was time to get down to business. We needed to have an election. The organizational positions had all been filled by the various sectors but there were five people interested in becoming a member at large. The votes were very close for the four available positions on the Board. Members of the new Board are listed on the Board of Directors page. The working teams gave updates on their activities this past year and gave us a look at where they are headed in the future. These presentations generated many questions and lively discussions during the coffee breaks and networking time. Also generating a buzz in the room were the informative displays and posters. These ranged in topic from team updates, to the Water for Life Strategy, to local research. To keep us all inspired, Brian Keating, from the Calgary Zoo, gave a fabulous presentation on his experiences in Africa and Alberta. The audience was held enraptured by his videos, incredible footage and upbeat presentation style. The day wrapped up with a presentation on the future direction of the Council and a discussion period. If the evaluation forms and the comments and questions throughout the day are any indication, we are on the right track. Thank you to all the presenters, teams, people and organizations with display and posters, and to all the volunteers that helped make the AGM and this past year a great success. You, the member, are what makes the OWC successful! For copies of the presentations please click here. |
